Tuition Reminder!

Just a reminder........Tuition is Due the first day of school!

Change of Clothes!

Don't forget to bring a complete change of clothes for your child to keep in their cubby! They should be in a ziploc bag and labeled!

What about drop off???

Like you, we are anxiously awaiting the first day of school......and I know some of you are wondering one thing..... How will drop off go??? What happens if they cry???

To help our students (and parents) adjust to "saying goodbye to mom" we are encouraging "drop-off-at the-classroom door". Allow me to explain: When you arrive for your first day of school (and your second and your third), follow the dots down the hallway. Upon arriving at your child's classroom, the open door to the classroom is the signal that teacher's are ready to begin accepting children into the room. If the door happens to be closed, this means teachers are finishing last minute prep for the morning!

Once the classroom door is open, hug, kiss and squeeze your little one goodbye and there will be a teacher ready to welcome your child to class! You may hear them say something like "Bye, Mom, we will see you soon" as they take your child's hand to bring them into the classroom. We are asking parents to refrain from entering the classroom at drop off time in order to help the children and the teachers adjust to this transition time. Don't worry! Our teachers are prepared for the tears that may accompany this drop-off time and will not let your little one stay distressed for long! Most children will adjust to this quickly and for those who don't, we will move on to "Plan B". Rest assured we will not let your child will not stay upset for long!

Instead of then lingering in the hallway (where children can still see you thru the door window), we will host "Coffee and Tears" for the parents! There will be a coffee and bagel bar set up for parents in our buildings front lobby, along with some comfy couches and chairs. This will give you a chance to hang around to see how your little one is doing from a safe distance. We promise to give you as many updates as you will need!

While the drop-off time may be a bit stressful in the beginning, we hope to minimize this stress by creating a regular and predictable routine for your child to expect!

Teacher Training

This week our HCP teachers attended two workshops. The first on was on the Tempermental Traits of Young Children, which covered the nine basic temperment traits of young children. Kelli Rushing, our NC state ECE instructor and facilitator, spent the class times explaining and reviewing how our temperments as teachers and the temperments of the children in our class dictate how we should prepare to adapt our classroom schedule for a succesful preschool morning. It was fascinating to be reminded of how each child (and teacher :--) are biologically hardwired with particular temperments. If we as teachers can better understand this and work to adapt our setting and expectations, it is a win-win situation for all in the classroom!

The second workshop was focused on Classroom Management, including finger plays, great transition ideas and classroom arrangenment. We had a ton of fun and were all inspired to provide the very best for our students! We have palns to have our instructor, Kelli, back on a regular basis throughout the year for continuing education for our teachers!

Welcome HCP Families!

Wow! Just one week away from our first day of school here at HCP! The staff and I have been in a flurry of activity preparing for our little students arrival on Sept. 2nd! We have a great team of teachers who have been preparing all week for your children. Not only have they sat thru HCP orientation and training, designed and arranged their individual classrooms, they have also been CPR certified and attended two 2-hour Early Childhood Education Workshops in preparation for the school new year! We are all eagerly counting down to the first day with you!
